Watson Mill Covered Bridge is the second painting in a series of historical landmark paintings that I created. The Watson Mill Covered Bridge is located in Comer, GA. This place is really with worth visiting. I was amazed by the beauty of this place. The waterfall is impressive and cascades down about four to six feet into a swift running stream. The covered mill bridge still transports its visitors across the river as it did over 100 years ago. This landmark served as a source of power for the local communities many years ago before the advancements in power generation technology of today. The covered bridge spans 229 feet across the South Fork River and is the longest covered bridge in the state of Georgia. The covered bridge was constructed in 1885 by Washington King. King was the son of freed slave and famous covered bridge builder, Horace King. Georgia at one time had more than 200 covered bridges and today less than 20 remain. The source of the historical information that I have provided is credited to Georgia State Parks web site.
